Haec commentatio spectat ad Bubastin urbem Aegyptiam. Si vis de dea eiusdem nominis discere, vide s.v. Bubastis dea.


Būbastis -is, f. (Aegyptie 𓉐𓏤𓎰𓏏𓊖 / Pr-Bȝśt.t, Coptice Ⲡⲟⲩⲃⲁⲥϯ / Pubasti, Hebraice פי־בסת / Pī-Bhɛsɛth; Arabice تل بسطة / Till-Basṭah), urbs Aegyptia antiqua, ad Delta Nili in Aegypto Inferiore sita. Erat locus praecipuus cultus deae eponymae Bubastis, et metropolis erat nomi Bubastitae.


Facta est sedes regalis, Sesonchose I coronato, anno 952 a.C.n.. Bubastis maxime in pretio erat Dynastia XXII regnante, et XXIII. Cambyse II autem anno 525 a.C.n. invadente, decadebat Dynastia XXVI, et cum ea Bubastis.


Bubastis est sedes episcopalis titularis Ecclesiae Catholicae Romanae.
