In praetereundo,[1] tamen vulgius ex Francico vocabulo En passant, est motus praecipuus in scaccorum ludo. Si pedes in motu primo duo quadra et alterum peditem, qui posset capere si solum unum quadrum primus potis movere praetereat, secundus primum capiat in praetereundo in obliquo a tergo. Secundus nunc stabit quo ceperit si primus solum unum quadrum transierit. Non exspectandum est si vult lusor capere in praetereundo; ius perdit nisi proxima vice eo utitur. In notatione, aliquando "in praetereundo" notatur litteris "e.p.", at hoc non necesse est.
