First of all, I know that stack(overflow, exchange,..) is a place to post generic questions to be able to help a lot of people. But this seemed to be the most relevant branch where I could post my motivation letter to be reviewed. If i offend any rules by this please do take this down.
So I know a motivation letter is quite a personal thing and that only I can really know what I should write down. I would like to know if some things are really a no-go? Or if I missed some crucial parts?
The place I'm applying to is CERN and I really believe this is a place where I would be able to contribute to society in a field that I also love, anyways, the motivation letter goes as follows
Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to express my interest for the job as software engineer.
Since long I've been interested in the field of physics, more exactly since the age of 15. I remember it well,
my physics teacher at the time was always enthusiastic to be able to learn us about the many wonders of
physics. He could explain us concepts in such a facinating way, that he eventually awoke this interest and passion
inside of me.
He would teach us about kinetic/dynamic energy, about hydrolica, he would tell us about the
galaxies and the hubble space telescope and in one of his classes he would tell us about the many
possibilities of the LHC. Even though my understanding of physics is basic, I love watching many physics
concepts arise during e.g. infotainment series, smalltalk etc...
When i graduated from high school i opted to choose IT, having to chose between two of my passions.
Many years later, I got a long academic career as an engineer/computer science student and now I'm
eager to take a step further; onto the professional field. I would love to help with "job specific stuff"
Therefore I'm very
interested in this function. Let alone the chance to be able to work at CERN!
I know this would be a giant opportunity for me and mayby a long shot... But I hope I'll get the chance to
work at CERN with some of the best scientists en engineers in the world. To help and advance society.
So hopefully, I can one time become a part of this great team
