Aesthetica musica in traditione praemoderna mathematicas et cosmologicas organizationis rhythmicae et harmonicae proprietates investigabat. Per quorum scripta, aesthetica, vocabulum antiquum 'perceptionem sensilem' significans, eius connotationem hodiernam accepit.
