Beroë (Βερόη) in mythologia Graeca fuit Nereis, filia Nerei dei marini, e Doride genita, secundum Hyginum in libro "Fabulae" inscripto,[1] qui hoc nomen e textu Georgicon Vergilii sine dubio dempsit; Vergilius enim eam inter sectatrices Cyrenes enumeraverat, scilicet Drymo, Xantho, Ligea, Phyllodoce, Cydippe, Lycorias, Clio, Beroe, Ephyre, Opis, Asia, Deiopea, Arethusa. Clio et Beroë "Oceanitides ambae, ambae auro, pictis incinctae pellibus ambae" a poëta describuntur.[2]
